Wedding Ceremony Ideas

Our Wedding

When my husband and I decided to tie the knot we did not have a lot of money for a ceremony but we did want to do something beyond just a civil wedding ceremony. We also did not have a lot of time to plan as we had been living together for about 3 years and we were about to have our first child. A quick, cheap and elegant wedding we would never forget seemed impossible until we started planning, and considering some wedding ceremony ideas.

We looked into inviting a few friends and having a small dinner and dance at a local hall which was easy enough to rent out. We had a few wedding ceremony ideas that were fairly cost effective. Neither one of us wanted a particularity religious ceremony we were more interested in just having the documentation be there and for it to be legally binding. Instead of a priest or minster we opted to search for a marriage celebrant, and found one fairly quickly. We searched online for someone with testimonials and experience performing marriages. dreamstimefree 1558555 300x200 Wedding Ceremony Ideas

The one we found was great, private and very understanding and able to accommodate to our every need. We were able to have a legally binding marriage ceremony outside of city hall in a setting that was a little more romantic.

We knew we wanted to have our marriage under a big oak tree in his father’s backyard which he had grown up in. The tree had a lot of significance to us and we had spent many a family gathering shaded by its branches and many a hot summer afternoon reading and enjoying the fresh air.

We both loved nature and his father’s house is where he grew up so it was quite fitting we get married in a place where the whole family was comfortable and had real emotional roots. None of us particularly went to any church or had any real connection to any church. Although there were many nice ones in the area we really felt like the tree was the perfect place for our celebrant wedding.

We didn’t do too much planning after that. We had a small cake to save on expenses and decided to take a small honeymoon at a small bed and breakfast near by. We had a nice dressed down wedding with simple shirt and ties and me in a nice sun dress. It was not flashy but it was the ceremony we wanted.

On the day of we all gathered underneath the big old oak tree and said our handwritten vows. Our celebrant was there to walk us through the process and provided all the proper documentation to make our marriage a legally binding one. We got to say vows in our own way, in one of our favorite places and we had perfect weather that day as well!

Overall the ceremony and the reception were lovely we cut the cake danced a bit and headed off to our honeymoon suite. I am glad we had a small wedding, it was exactly what we needed. Just close friends and family gathering together in a wonderful place and joining together to support us becoming husband and wife. It is a day I will remember for the rest of my life and look back on with joy.
